Description

The GM Launch PAD program provides psychological assessments to Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind children and youth (ages 0 - 21) in Minnesota public schools.
* All assessments are available sign language interpreters and affirm Deaf culture or other cultures
* Psychologists travel to the child's school or county offices to evaluate children


Offers two levels of service to students, schools and families:
* Full Evaluation - Testing may include clinical observations, diagnostic assessment (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disorders, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, Depressive Disorders, Anxious Disorders etc.) intellectual, memory/learning, social functioning, emotional functioning, behavioral functioning, adaptive functioning, and neuropsychological screenings.
* Intellectual/Adaptive Only Evaluation - Typically appropriate for older students that have had previous testing, but need updated information for various programs and services (such as transitioning to adult social services or post-secondary programming.)


GM Launch Pad is coordinated by Metropolitan Educational Cooperative Service Unit.

Eligibility

To qualify, the child/student must:
* Live in Greater Minnesota (outside the 7 county metro area)
* Receive special education services under the categories Deaf/Hard of Hearing and/or DeafBlind
* Attend a Minnesota Public School


Consent is required from parents or legal guardians for children under 18.


Application Instructions

Referrals are from parents, families, school staff, county social workers or legal guardians. Students ages 18 - 21 can directly request services.
